Mission Statement:
We created The Unofficial BDR to help our fellow riders navigate the challenges of the backcountry. Currently we have completed the WABDR and are working on others. Think of this site not as a map, but as a living document—a user-supported hub where the collective knowledge of the riding community comes together. Your real-time feedback is our most valuable asset. Whether you're reporting a fresh washout or verifying fuel stops, your updates keep this guide accurate and our community moving forward.
The User-Curated Gear List
We don't believe in "best-of" lists generated by algorithms or advertisers. Instead, our User-Curated Gear List is a collection of setups and equipment that have actually survived the dust, rocks, and rain of the Washington backcountry.
This list is built by you—the riders who have spent the time in the dirt. From the specific tire that grips the "baby heads" on Section 3 to the camping setup that keeps you dry in a Gifford Pinchot downpour, this is the gear that works when the pavement ends.
